Tips & Tricks: Organizing Your Lingerie Drawer

If you’ve opened your drawer only to find a mess out of your flimsy underwear and padded bras, we’ve got tips for you! Read on and learn how to quickly organise your intimates drawer. No more cluttering, no more jumbling!

Step 1: Out with the old

Get a quick visual inventory of what you own by gathering all your intimates and sort them into catergories - ie. wired bras, bralettes and underwear. Edit out tattered, ill-fitting or uncomfortable items. Think about what you require for your current life and ditch anything that feels like it’s done its job or seen better days.

“The best way to choose what to keep and what to throw away is to take each item in one’s hand and ask: ‘Does this spark joy?’ If it does, keep it. If not, dispose of it. This is not only the simplest but also the most accurate yardstick by which to judge.” — Marie Kondo

TIP: The average lifespan of a good lingerie is between 6 - 9 months but it is highly dependent on how often it’s worn. You should probably still keep an eye out for stained, tears or stretched elastics.

Step 2: Fold and Organise

There are lots of different ways you can organize your drawer depending on your preferences. Here's a simple secret: Use inexpensive drawer dividers to give everything a place.

Get them organized by colour, then style and lay flat in the drawer to conserve space. Your morning rush will feel less insane when the drawers feels like a boutique rather than a bargain bin.

TIP: When folding, place your items such that you can see all of them at once and you won't mess up the whole folded pile every time you want to grab one.

Step 3: Take Good Care

Sure, life can get messy, but your lingerie drawer doesn’t have to. Now that you've successfully whipped your drawer into shape, your next job is simple: treat your items with care. It only takes a few minutes to put them back to where they belong.

TIP: Use dried herbs like lavender to make a scented sachet and place it in your drawers and closets for beautifully-scented lingerie. Avoid oiled sachet at any cost as they may cause a stain on your lingerie.
